Our new name reflects our heritage and values; businesses grow and change just like families (ours is both!) and since we’ve been selling footwear since 1948, we thought it was time our name reflected that. It all started with Guiglielmo Anselmi, three shoe stores and the immigrant determination, European passion and family unity that still define who we are today.

​ The new Merchant 1948 stores around New Zealand and Australia (with more opening soon) reflect both our footwear heritage and exciting future. Change doesn’t happen overnight though, and evolving our store signage is an ongoing process – but we’re proud to introduce our redesigned website that presents our new name, new look and an elevated shopping experience to reflect that of our stores.
